Motor cycling hazards
I travel by motorcycle to and from my workplace about 30 km daily and have found that my eyes are really screwed by the dust and the pollution, till i can afford a car i need to protect myself and have been looking in stores for over the glasses googles (i wear prescription spectacles) and have not been able to locate a single store that sells the same.
india has a huge number of motorcycle users and i dont know why the retailing boom has not yet hit this segment. i mean a superstore like big bazaar could easily have a corner for specialized motorcycle wear accessories. where i could choose from a lot of innovative products that my retail vendor would not be keeping simply because he has neither the space or the time to do the appropriate research.
on the net i found these Amazing googles and i would be willing to bet that a lot of guys would be interested in them. i think i mentioned before that commuting by bike is a necessity for me, and being a software proffesional i need to take care of my health too.
i would not like to go in for a full face helmet simply because the heat in india is unbearable. also during rains the full face helmet is more of a liability in terms of visibility.
to extend further a nightvision goggle would be the ultimate luxury for indian roads where the street lights are notorious for konking out on the most dangerous of stretches with potholes and pedestrians jumping onto the street.
i have had an accident while trying to save a burqa clad lady who walked onto the street suddenly on a stretch of road that had no lights. since it was drizzling my bike slipped, luckily there was no injury to either of us. however i shudder to think what would have happened if any vehicle behind me would have been unable to stop in time…
also i keep wondering why rainwear has to be a jacket and pants ? it couls be a skirt type of garment that i could easily wear in a minute. ever tried to put on a pant with your shoes on ? i hope some retailer is watching this space and will use my insight ….
