Its a pain in the #ss to travel by BEST, yeah i was ecstatic when i found out about the day ticket but they still need to rationalize thier bus routes for optimum frequency. i have been taking the bus for the past week and i have found that it take on an average 30 minutes to get a bus going in my direction, also the bus is chock full of passengers you can hardly stand in it. every bus has a sign saying 47 passengers + 19 standees now either i cant read or the best administration isn’t aware what that means. i could count at least 30 standees yesterday in my bus and that is the norm rather than an exception at peak times.

The railways have a limitation  on the number of rakes that they can deploy on a route best has no such compulsions. i bet if they employed a statistician and an engineer together they would be able to figure out that having a hub and spoke configuration of routes would optimize the utilization as well as the probability of reaching destinations faster. till then i guess it back to the rusty but trusty bike.

We all know that petrol is not going to last forever however we keep buying vehicle avoid public transport and then complain that things are very expensive. yeah me too.

thankfully my bike conked day before yesterday and i got to know something wonderfull which i will share with you.

BEST ( yes our government buses ) have introduced a daily weekly and monthly pass , the beauty of this is that unlike a train pass where the destination and source are fixed , here you can board any bus to anywhere ( within the area specified) , its like having a personal vehicle at your disposal across mumbai for the entire day.

In the time that it takes to park your car you can  hop in to the bus and go towards your destination, you can change as many buses as you want to reach your destination. no ticket required.

This is really wonderful

Previously we had to wait for particular bus since the route got you closest to your destination. now take any bus that reaches the nearest junction , then switch to a local route bus in that area. i used to curse BEST when i saw 15 buses pass by me and not one bus was going on the route that i wanted.

i am thinking of parking my bike for one last time and swithching to BEST. hope they purchase more buses so that people in cars get fed up of the traffic and switch to BEST.

Today there is a power cut in vashi navi mumbai for almost 4 hours now, my inverter is on the last leg of its reserves and thats why i am writing this blog after shutting the fan and lights. i think i have only 5 minutes of power left in my su kam inverter.

the telephone number of mseb is coming constantly engaged 27825970 at least mseb can inform on website about power cut , some sort of news flash that helps us to know whats the problem and when it will be resolved.
